Flavor Profile
Flavorah Back Bar Bitters delivers an authentic aromatic cocktail bitters experience with classic gentian, quinine, and wormwood complexity. The aroma presents dry herbal character layered with warm spices and subtle boozy depth.
Opening notes reveal sophisticated bitter complexity with immediate herbal authenticity. The body develops into warm, spiced territory with hints of citrus peel and aromatic bark. The finish is dry and lingering, leaving pleasant bitters warmth that elevates any cocktail-inspired application.
This is a highly potent, concentrated flavor that captures the essence of professional bar bitters. The authentic profile makes it essential for old-fashioned, Manhattan, and any application requiring genuine cocktail bitters character.
Complementary Flavors
Flavorah Back Bar Bitters pairs exceptionally with spirits, citrus, and tobacco flavors. Its concentrated herbal character adds professional bar depth to recipes.
- Flavorah Bourbon: 10:1 for classic old-fashioned
- Flavorah Blood Orange: 8:1 for citrus bitters accent
- Flavorah Gin (Juniper): 10:1 for botanical cocktails
- Flavorah Virginia Tobacco: 8:1 for complex tobacco depth
- Flavorah Vanilla Custard: 10:1 for bitters cream
Recipe Concepts
Create authentic old-fashioned profile by combining minimally with Flavorah Bourbon and subtle orange peel notes. For Manhattan-style profiles, blend with cherry and whiskey elements. Essential accent for sophisticated tobacco recipes requiring bar-inspired complexity.
Mixing Notes
Extremely potent. Start at 0.1% and increase cautiously. Higher percentages create medicinal overtones. Best used as a subtle accent rather than primary flavor. Pairs with citrus to brighten or vanilla to smooth.
Beverage Applications
For cocktails and mocktails, add 1-2 drops per 100ml for authentic bitters accent. The concentrated formula means minimal usage delivers professional bar character. For flavored syrups, use 0.15-0.25% in simple syrup base for cocktail applications.
Hard seltzer producers can add 0.05-0.1% post-fermentation for sophisticated, adult-oriented profiles with herbal depth.
- Cocktails: 1-2 drops per 100ml
- Mocktails: 1 drop per 100ml
- Bar syrups: 0.15-0.25% in simple syrup
- Hard seltzer: 0.05-0.1% post-fermentation
Confectionery Applications
For bitters-infused chocolate and sophisticated candy, add 0.1-0.2% to the mixture. Creates adult-oriented confections with complex herbal depth. Works in combination with citrus for orange-bitters chocolate.
- Chocolate: 0.1-0.2% for bitters depth
- Caramels: 0.1-0.15% for cocktail caramel
- Gummy candy: 0.1-0.2% for adult profiles
Baking Applications
For cocktail-inspired cakes and desserts, add 0.1-0.2% by weight with wet ingredients. Works beautifully in bourbon cake and Manhattan-inspired desserts.
Usage Notes
Flavorah Back Bar Bitters is extremely potent. Start at less than 0.1% maximum and adjust. The herbal complexity intensifies rapidly. Low usage prevents medicinal overtones while delivering authentic bar character.
